From an elderscrolls forum post I got the following and it is working for me (currently): 

Underclock your graphics card base clock

I went 30 MHz down and my crashes were gone. I used the tool from the link which was shown in the above mentioned post: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-inspector-download.html
